I thought about writing a lengthy blog post about fresh starts and the Year of the Snake having just started (gung hei fat choi, btw!) and trying to work with my brain to let go of my perfectionism complex. But then I remembered what I was calling this first post: Perfect is the enemy of done.
So let's just TL;DR this - I'm:
- Starting back at TAFE studying the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Web Development),
- Overhauling my portfolio, starting with my personal site & branding, and
- Getting back into writing as a way of counteracting my doomscrolling tendencies.
Grav and the Hypertext theme by Art of the Smart is the perfect starting point for working on prioritising done over perfect. Is Hypertext without one of the inbuilt stylesheets set pretty? No. But is it fast? Heck yes. And when combined with markdown files? I don't have to worry about bloat, or complex layouts, and can focus on quickly implementing my learning at TAFE, methodically updating my portfolio and completing writing quickly regardless on what device I'm on.
With the above in mind, here's what I'm hoping to achieve in the next year:
- Completing my Certificate IV
- Designing my personal branding & site from scratch
- Overhauling my PrestaShop project from previous marketing study
Goals are set, plans are in place, physical desk is tidied. Here's to 2025!
